I am on the faculty at Wright State University and I would strongly encourage you to take a look at the Design/Tech program here (I teach in Musical Theatre). Students get so many opportunities to design, to master technical skills, to work at a very high level in a wide range of design and production skills. And, the record of graduate placement in high-level national jobs is fantastic (approx. 100% placement for the last dozen years). Give it a look! www.wright.edu/tdmp
Thank you JoeProf! Wright State is definitely on our list to go see. Can I ask you a few questions? DS is really interested in the intersection between computers and tech theater. He’s not really sure if he wants to major in tech theater and take a lot of classes in computer science, or major in computer science and take a lot of classes in tech theater. If he decided that he wanted a computer science degree, would he still be able to take classes in the tech theater department, or are they limited to majors? Would he be able to do substantial work on productions as a non-major? Similarly, if he majored in lighting and sound technology or scenery technology, would he have access to the classes in the computer science department?
