Schools where I can study political communication

Wrote a long post on this yesterday and it seems to be gone.

I am transferring out of UCSB and looking to study political communication. Not many school offer this program, and while I love the look of Emerson, I’m trying to keep my options open and build a solid list of options. So even if the school doesn’t offer a specific program, I’m seeking suggestions of schools where I can study comm in a politically-oriented program/environment. Or perhaps a polisci program with a strong comm focus. If anyone knows of schools like this, please let me know.

Let me know of anything that matches up with this. Bonus points for schools also matching this criteria:

  • In the Northeast. Boston preferred but open.
  • Small class size preferred.
  • Transfer merit aid would be nice but I know I can't dream that big
  • Like urban environments. Not required
  • Love the hands-on learning style of Emerson rather than something strongly theory focused

Stats: 3.88 college GPA, 4.2 high school GPA, 1430 SAT (math 690, English 740)

I believe George Washington University in DC has some sort of political communication program.

Your other posts on this topic say finances are a huge issue. You have a low income custodial parent and a noncustodial parent with a high income spouse who won’t contribute. If your parents truly can’t pay anything, a large amount transfer aid isn’t just “nice,” it’s essential.

Are there any colleges in CA that you can afford besides UCSB? I think you need to investigate in state options too, not limit yourself to expensive OOS privates.

Communication is widely available at CSUs, and political science is widely available generally.

You may want to explore the communication and political science offerings at CSUs and other UCs to see if they have offerings that would be of interest to you, like UCSB has (as mentioned in http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/21195045/#Comment_21195045 ).

The CSUs may have more emphasis on preparing for work rather than research like UCs do. However, you do need to know some of the underlying theories to better prepare for continuing self-education during your career.

I’m pretty sure my friend is majoring in that at George Washington
