Schools you need to apply EA in order to apply for merit scholarships

Does anyone know if there's a list going on CC of schools where applying early is essential to obtaining merit aid scholarships?

I don’t know if there is a list but we can start one. Truman State in MO is one. I don’t know about the other schools our kids applied to because they were applying EA or RD early anyway. I just happened to see that on the Truman website one day.

Boston College was this way 5 years ago (no idea if it still is that way)

U Rochester said to apply ‘priority review’ by Dec 1 for scholarships.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland has something similar to the priority review, applying by Nov 1 (today) is necessary for some merit consideration.

Not exactly EA, but University of Alabama has a December 1 deadline to apply for the guaranteed-for-stats merit scholarships.

Howard says that scholarships are awarded until they run out, so the earlier applicants have the best chance.

University of Richmond - December 1 deadline for Richmond Scholars; regular deadline is January 15.

University of Kansas - November 8 deadline for freshman scholarship consideration.

Kansas State University - today, November 1 is the priority scholarship deadline for freshman applicants.

I think a lot of schools have an earlier application deadline for scholarship consideration.

USC doesn’t have EA, but you have to apply by Dec. 1 for merit scholarship consideration.

University of Maryland by Nov 1st for scholarships.

At University of Miami, the majority of the Singer (full tuition) scholarships are given to EA applicants (there has only been one scholarship weekend for regular decision applicants). And at least in past years, all of the full ride Stamps scholarships have gone to EA applicants as well.

Georgia Tech by Oct. 15 for Presidential
Vanderbilt by Dec. 1 or 15 (depending on scholarship)
NC State by Nov. 1 for Park

Pitt and Minn-TC are known for giving more merit to those that apply early

U-Mich told us that the scholarship committee meets every month after Aug. - so the earlier you apply, the more times you have opportunity to be considered for merit aid

University of arkansas is 11/15 for priority consideration of merit and is awarded until funding is depleted…I believe many state schools have similar such deadlines in the weeks and months ahead. Just have to double check their web sites.

Also note that the Oxford Scholars program is a different application process than the Emory Scholars one [Oxford College - Oxford Scholars](http://oxford.emory.edu/admission/application-requirements/oxford-scholars.dot)

Scripps College requires that you apply by the ED deadline (even if you’re applying RD) in order to be considered for their top scholarships. Claremont McKenna is similar.
