I’ve just found out that GATech and maybe UMich requires EA to be considered for Stamps scholarship. Do you know any other merit awards in popular schools that require EA, or maybe a separate application? This information is somewhat buried on the schools’ websites. Anything else I might have overlooked?
There are a LOT of colleges that require earlier admissions applications if you want to be considered for their merit awards.
University of Alabama requires December. U of South Carolina was November 15 with the honors college/scholarship application due the same time. I think ALL of the colleges awarding the Stamps have earlier application deadlines.
And many schools offering Trustee Scholarships also have earlier deadlines.
Nearly all the schools my son looked at and eventually applied to had Nov. 1st app deadlines for merit scholarships. So if you were planning on submitting your app on January 1st, you’ll miss out on a lot of merit opportunities. The Nov. 1st date also affects SAT testing. The August date wasn’t offered at our location, so his last chance at improving his SAT score was the October sitting. As for the requirement of separate applications, it depends on the school and/or scholarship. This is where legwork comes in, and a spreadsheet to keep track of it all. Good luck on your college search.
Thank you @hafamama . Most of the schools we’re considering have ED, not EA, and his first choices are EA, so this forces us to wait on the rest.
