Schulich vs. Mannes?

I'm a 22 year old classical violinist who is hoping to re-enter the music scene after a two year hiatus. I also have very strong composing interests, and I would say my level of work is pretty advanced as it is without much formal training.

As the title suggests, I'm trying to decide between Schulich at McGill University or Mannes at the New School in New York. Both are very prestigious and selective I'm aware, and I would like to hear your thoughts on the two programs. I would be majoring in composition and theory.

Noah, have you been admitted to both, or are you planning to apply to them? I can’t tell you anything about the composition or theory department at either place, but if you have acceptances, I would like to add them to the http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/1427644-master-list-music-school-acceptances-fall-2013-a-48.html

I’m planning to apply.

Anyone with insight here?

There’s no need to choose between them now. Wait until after you apply, after you visit, and after you’re accepted. You’ve got a whole year before you need to make a choice. And be sure to apply to some other programs, as well!
