I was offered a Schupf scholarship and I was just wondering whether it’s legit and makes Amherst wayyy more fun. When I visited I wasn’t especially in love, but would this scholarship make it worth it?

I have the same question. It looks like everyone at top LACs get all the opportunities they want anyway-- Does 25k make a huge difference? And what’s the process for proposing a Schupf-sponsored project? I haven’t visited Amherst yet, but I really want to fall in love with the school so that I won’t feel like I’m choosing it over Middlebury or Haverford just for Schupf.

Hi! Congratulations to you! I am going to do my first Schupf “project” this summer. I wouldn’t say the program makes Amherst way more fun, but it really made it easier to find something awesome to do over the summer. You get a Schupf advisor who is a professor. The process is not a long one, but it was vague to me at first. Don’t go to Amherst just for the scholarship. It’s only a small part of life here. The value of the scholarship depends on how much the recipient is willing to come up with uses for it, like internships, traveling, or more creative projects.
Good luck with your decisions!
