Science GPA Specifics.

Okay, so I took anatomy before I decided to try to get into medical school, and did poorly because circumstances surrounding that time of my life.
And for science requirements for MD and DO I don't see anatomy as one of the classes. So lets say I end up getting a great Science GPA disregarding the one Anatomy class, will that still look bad? Or should I retake anatomy now just to be safe?

You took anatomy in college? And did poorly?

Your anatomy grade will be included as part of your sGPA calculations for both MD and DO programs. However, if you retake anatomy, AACOMAS (DO programs) will only include the newer grade in it s calcuations; AMCAS (MD programs) will include both.

Whether or not you should retake anatomy depends on what your sGPA and other application factors (particularly your MCAT score) looks like. If your sGPA is strong overall, one poor grade won’t prevent medical schools from considering you.

For the purposes of fulfilling med school admission requirements, any grade below a C (including a C-) is not considered passing. There are some schools that do require anatomy for admission. If you plan to apply to one that does and you earned a C- or lower, you must retake anatomy.

what schools require anatomy for admission?

Ohio State requires 1 semester of anatomy.

University of Oklahoma has anatomy as one of the options for the second required biology class:

When D. was applying, one of her Med. Schools added Anatomy to the requirements after she has applied. They ended up switching to strongly recommended because the outcry from all pre-meds in our state. However, D. did not change her schedule second time, she took Anatomy (re-scheduled her entire Senior year, including dropping one Minor). Later she said that actually this one has helped in Med. School somewhat, lots of vacabulary and some had harder time because they did not have it in UG. But it is really not biggy, expect lots and lots of new vocabulary anyway, the major effort in Med. School and absolutely major major effort while preparing for the Step 1.
Frnakly, I do not know how the bad Anatomy grade (or in any other UG class) is treated by Adcoms
