Science Olympiad

Hey guy!i am suppose to choose two topic for my science Olympiad team but I don't know which to choose.in one hand between rocks mineral and disease detecter in another hand between boomilever and gravity vehicle! Please between those i listed which two are simple?thanks

It’s good to have 1 study event and 1 building event if you are participating in only 2.

What materials do you study for disease detector ? Thanks

Yeah thats what I am going to but I don’t know which to choose!for disease detective the 2013 list is not release yet!

Go to scioly.org They will be able to help you out more since it’s only science olympiad kids. Ok, rocks and minerals is mostly memorization and identification so if you’re good at subjects like biology or history then that’s for you. Disease detectives is considered a study event but there’s a lot of application and you should be good at math if you want to do it, so if you’re good at a subject like chemistry with a lot of application then that’s for you. Building events I can’t say, just if you like to work with your hands then go for it but if you’d rather take a test then stick to the study events. Other than that it’s up to you, don’t choose an event that you know you’ll end up hating after studying it for a few months.

^ Is it possible to do one event? I’m only interested in the anatomy event

It depends on your team. You have a team of 15 and a total of 24 events to fill up, with at least 2 people on each event. If you only do one event then that means someone will have to load more on to their plate. The minimum the people on my team do is 3 events usually, some have to do 4.

ah i see, i guess i could do more. Wouldn’t hurt to do more. Although i actually want to place well in Anatomy and maybe DD

Good luck! I did DD last year (my first year doing science olympiad) and am probably going to do it this year too. It’s fun but tedious because the nationals test is always soooo long.
