So, on the ACT I got

English: 36
Reading: 36
Math: 33
Science: 26

HOW DO I IMPROVE MY SCIENCE SCORE? I've always done well on the practice tests for science, yet I do about 10 points lower on average when actually taking the test!

Wait. Which ACT? April?

Oh ok. I was about to be like, "***? Already got your June scores?"

Anyway, the best way to improve science is to take a lot of timed practice tests. Do not waste your time trying to find strategies and everything...Odds are, it won't help you.

Kaplan & the Red Book are the best for Science. I personally didn't like Princeton Review's Science. I thought it was harder than the actual thing (my scores indicated that).

But yeah..Kaplan & the Red Book. Time yourself, and just get use to it. Don't read all the intro's. Read a question, find the chart/graph that the question pertains to, and answer away. The only one you should read is the "Fighting Scientists" passage. That's where two scientists (sometimes 3, I believe) give their theories to a particular scientific phenomena and you have to answer 7 questions about it. Read it fast, and underline key points(the more you practice, the more you'll know what's important/not important).

So yeah.

Practice away!

take the sat.

if you get a 2180, it will correspond to your act score : )

you can get to know some of the science vocab used and that will definitely help you concentrate....also practice test practice test practice test!!!

^^^
that's it.. you just gotta practice a LOT.. practice test after practice test.. it'll take some time, but it'll work

and also...search before you post a new thread because im pretty sure ive said that like 2 times before this within a week lol

A 26? Are you running out of time or just getting them wrong? The more practice tests you take, the more efficient you can do the questions without thinking about time.

Are there any good prep books that just have science tests?

I think that most prep books focus only on the ACT as a whole because that's what colleges see mostly, your composite score. I know what you mean though, the SAT has books specifically for CR and Math, but individual sections have much more weight.

I mean the entire Princeton Review book would have like what, 2 science sections, and 1 on their website? Still, their practice questions and drills can substitute for practice tests. Try the Red Book, the real ACT Prep book. I took the ACT coldly(well I read over PR and it helped), and I definitely got held down by the time limit on Science. If I had taken a lot of practice tests before, I might have done better. Don't take Barron's though, I hear that they always give tests that are much harder than the real thing(for ACT and SAT).

while it is true that barron's is really hard, it'll definitely get your timing a little better (since it's harder.. at least that was so with me)

idk, I thought that Barron's actually helped because it's harder than the real thing, whatever, I recommend REA ACT if Kaplan or Pr doesn't work out for you, don't do their practice tests, they are very inaccurate but the strategy section is more detailed than the Kaplan and PR, however, thats my 2 cents take it with a grain of salt =].
