~Just switched to the ACT~

Because Im not thrilled by my SAT score I am trying the ACT. I am trying to get at least a 30, hopefully 31.
I just took a practice test from Kaplan and scored a 28 (English 26, math 31, Reading 28, Science 28) The only thing I did prior to taking it was read over the format.

For reading I actually read the passages and then answered the questions. This method seemed to work for all but the science based one. What is the best approach?
For science 4 out of 6 mistakes were on the same passage.
I liked the math section much better than SAT math.
English seems to be my biggest problem.

What is the best study strategy for bringing up my score to at least a 30? Is it realistic by September?

Thanks

how were you able to read and answer the uestions for the reading section. Most people say they have a tough time with that.

POINT #1:

ONLY use the official practice tests either online, or in "The REAL ACT Prep Guide".

Point 2:

For the science, skim over the whole passage to get a sense of what is going on. Then, go to the questions. If you have taken a lot of science questions, you should do well.

what are the official practice tests online??
for sceince, i used to read and analyze the charts/graphs, but thats a whole lot of wasting time. just SKIM, and i mean really skim, the charts/graphs, skip reading the passages. and then go to tthe questions, refer back to graphs, and choose the best answer.

i read the passages too and that works out fine for me, although i have to manage my time a LITTLE more efficiently/read faster.

also, english is my worst section too surprisngly. i think the best way for improving this is to read up some strategies. in other words, re-learn english grammer. i'm currently doing this and it's helping me lots. =]

I actually think that reading the passages is easier since you remember a lot of info plus you know where to look for things since the questions ( unlike SATs) dont give line references.

Ill probably review all the rules for english

that's good- i've never taken an ACT test except for a math oractic- but i got the impression that it was impossible to read the entire passage and answer the questions because of the little time.
