Hello everyone! I am going to be applying to Sciences Po in the fall - specifically the Dual BA program with Columbia - and I am not sure which region to choose. I am hesitating between the North America and the Africa programs. Does anyone have any recommendations? Which language is the Africa program taught in? Thanks for any information you might have!
Courses are taught initially in English at Sciences Po, but many advanced courses are taught in French (especially after the first few semesters of language instruction). This doesn’t matter based on which program you apply to.
Also, both programs would be at the Reims campus, so it would be entirely based upon your desired area of study. I have no experience in either, but I would think French could better serve you in Africa than in the Americas. Personally, if I were to pursue this program and then a MA/PhD, I think Africa would be an extremely neat area of study.
I am a current student in the ScPo/Columbia dual degree program. I didn’t really like it, and began to feel extremely disappointed within a couple months of arriving. The atmosphere is very different from that of an American university, and if you are seeking an experience similar to one which you might find in an American university, you will probably be disappointed. Feel free to PM me with any questions.
