I don't know if anyone is aware of all the controversy in the last couple of months with the Internet group known as Anonymous protesting against the Church of Scientology. At first it was over Scientology taking down a released video of Tom Cruise on YouTube being a nut over his "religion". Not long later Anonymous declared war on Scientology.

There were three major peaceful protests on February 10, March 15, and April 12 all over the world. There is going to be another one on May 10.

Ha. I never knew about the Anonymous stuff. That was... interesting.

Honestly, I've got nothing against people choosing their own ways, but the "history" behind the philosophies of Scientology has always just reminded me of a ridiculously bad Stargate episode.

Oh, and the other thing I don't get: Why does the Church of Scientology associate itself with a crucifix? Aren't the evil alien's minions identified as present-day Christian clergymen? There are no other connections to any other form of Christianity or Christ and yet the symbol pops up everywhere associated with the religion.

Speaking of "ridiculous bad Stargate episode", look up Battlefield Earth, a movie adapted from one of L. Ron Hubbard's books. He's the founder of Scientology, and of course, the only people think that it's good are Scientologists.

It's a modified cross with another cross in it. Critics call it the Church of the Double-Cross. It stands for the 8 fundamentals, and it gets its source from the Rosicrucian cross, which is one of those magician/weird organizations in the past.

Also, they use it as an image to represent itself as a Christian-like "religion" to those who do not know what they really believe. Just look up Xenu and that's what they believe.

Ha. I did not know that. Neither did I know that Battlefield Earth was one of L. Ron Hubbard's. Explains a lot.
