To everyone who has taken the PSAT in Oct of their Jr year AND the SAT in Oct or Nov of their JR YEAR, what was the scores on both as a comparison? Were they similar?

My son: 237 PSAT in Oct, 2380 SAT in Nov

Very similar!

205 psat, 2100 sat

205 on the PSAT, then a 2320 on the May SAT. Which sucks, seeing as I could have easily qualified as a NMSF and likely become a finalist had my PSAT scores been anywhere near my SAT scores.

Was the PSAT a fluke or did you really improve that much? If so, how?

170 on PSAT, and 2080 on the SAT!

215 PSAT in the fall; 2300 in May

My school guidance counselor said that the average bump is about 100-200 points at our school.

214 PSAT… no idea about the SAT score, it won’t be available till June 24th. But I feel like I did comparably (though I guess that doesn’t say much).

^^But what the OP wanted was a comparison of PSAT and SAT scores for October and November specifically. I think OP wanted to see the score comparison when the tests are taken close together in the junior year…

i took them close together and it was 210 PSAT and 2200 SAT

I took them close together (Dec SAT) PSAT-205 SAT-2050 lol exactly the same

Yes, SimpleLife, is correct. I want to see if the PSAT and SAT scores are similar if the tests are taken at approximately the same time. In scientific terms, I am eliminating “confounding variables” for score correlation by removing “extra time to study from Oct to March” and by removing “I didn’t study at all for the PSAT, but studied really hard for the SAT” coments etc etc. Actually, I wonder if CB tracks this data to see the correlation between the 2 tests. Maybe they should…

(my daugter) 206 to 2330 in three weeks. She did no test prep in between.

I did 183-1920

215 PSAT to 2010 SAT

Took both without any preparation whatsoever, in fall of Junior year. I was sick during the SAT and couldn’t think clearly, though, which might explain the discrepancy. Just took the SAT again June 5, and I’m hoping for a pretty decent improvement.

My daughter: 2080 or so, October SAT; 228 PSAT, both with no prep.

I will ask my son to take the October SAT when he is a junior, but will encourage him to do a bit of preparation!

OP: how are you going to account for the other few hundred variables?

Mine was in December, but close enough.

PSAT: 198
SAT: 2070

My son:
Oct SAT: 2320
PSAT (4 days later): 217

205 psat, 2180 sat
