As the title implies, I was wondering if anyone had received low scores on their ACT science section practice tests, but dramatically increased it on the day of the actual test? I've been having a lot of trouble with the science section and am still not near my ideal score after several practice tests. Any stories of improvement or general advice would be appreciated!

I've been having a lot of trouble with the science section of my practice tests too. I've gotten usually 22-25 on those but a 27 on the real ACT when I took it (not great but I actually thought the real ACT science was ridiculously hard).

I've been getting consistently 27-29 on practice tests ARGH. The curve sucks! I'm really hoping for at least a 30...

i always score a 24-26 on science practice tests but managed to pull a 34. but this was in september and tomorrow i plan on getting a 36 for science.

I was pulling, like, 23 or 24 on the pratice, but pulled off a 34 on the real Science section. :)

oh damn, how did you do that? What did you do the night before or on test day? Do you have any possible explanation for that jump?

^My question exactly, that's an amazing improvement!

i know im good with science. i just dont try on the practive tests.

The science section is apparently the most unpredictable from test to test. Besides that, because of the curve, the difference between missing one question and missing four questions is huge. So I guess we just have to hope for the best tomorrow!

The science section is all about speed. Don't read the passages first. Go straight to the questions and reference the background/graphs/data as needed. The questions are VERY straightforward as they are almost exclusively about reading graphs/data. Perhaps people feel extra pressure while taking the real test so they work faster and actually finish everything with time to spare.

just remember you have 30 seconds max per question. Move on if you don't have it after that. Guess if you have to.

the practice tests are real weird. on the math i kept getting a 25, science a 22, reading 25, and english a 23. but when i took the test i got a 28 on science, 30 on reading, 29 on math, but a dismal 26 on english. i alway seem to have trouble on the english portions of all tests. but it seems like the practice test are harder, idk why.

Follow theoneo's advice for the science section. When I took my first practice test I read every background paragraph, and of course didn't have time to finish it all. The key is to scan all of the information, and go directly to the questions.
