Improvements in ACT science?

Hey all,

I know there are a bunch of other posts on how to get a better score on the ACT science, but I wanted to make another thread since the ACT has been “changing”. I feel like that my ACT science scores vary from 25-34 (I know, very huge range). It feels like that some practice tests are easier than some others, but how could I make myself more consistent?

I already know the trick of not reading the passages/graphs before the questions and I also know the trick of reading the questions first and then looking for the data in the tables/graphs. Are there any other tips and tricks that apply to the newest ACT (September)?

And lastly, do you guys think the ACT is getting harder month by month? I have been constantly wondering if the practice tests from the red ACT prep book were reliable and similar to real ACT.

Thanks

I took the both the april + june ACT, and the science sections on both tests had 6 passages instead of 7. This basically means that the strategies you had when taking the tests in the red book may not work anymore. On the june act, I wasted time by skimming over the passages then answering the questions and, as a result, I ran out of time and scored a 32. My friend, who got a 36, said that he literally went straight to the questions and didn’t waste time reading the passages. However, different strategies will obviously work out differently for everyone. As for your question about the ACT getting harder month by month, this is a controversial question in which the answer varies from person to person. Imo, I don’t believe it’s getting harder, but again, it’s different for everyone.
