Score Question (33/34)

So my scores are as follows:
C:33
E:33
M:35
R:30
S:35
E&W:34(12 essay)

Ok, so my composite score is a 33 with the English section, but when the combined English and Writing Section of a 34 my overall score is a 34. Which is my composite Score? Overall Score? Score reported to colleges? How should i view my score? Thanks to whomever answers this in advance

Your composite remains the 33 and that is what will be reported to your colleges as well as your 12 essay. 33 and 34 are both 99 percentile …feel good about it!

According to the ACT website, your writing score will not affect either your subject area score or your composite. Therefore your composite/overall score is a 33.

Did you use any prep books to get that high score

i use the princeton review and i got a 17 any advice pleaseeee

For Neymar11
First the best book to get is Red ACT Student Book, It has 5 practice tests and it is made by the makers of the ACT, so you can trust on the integrity, hardness, and scores gained from the test.
(This is my first practice test)

  • I took 4 of the practice tests in the book and got scores of ( 31,32,34)
  • From these practice tests I gained knowledge on how the test words questions and how they want you to answer certain types of questions. (This is very important and is the main way to improve a score because, knowing what to look for saves you time and helps you be more accurate while answering questions)
  • Also to improve grammar, English Section, the best way is to get a grammar book and read it, for me it was the English 3200 with writing Applications
-For Math and Science i have natural ability which i always score well, but take the practice tests as a minimum way to know what they ask for on the test
  • To get a perfect on the Essay like i did i basically used my writing style from essays in AP CA which is general statements and thesis, combined with very specific evidence like referencing studies and articles in the essay to augment my points, as well as very eloquent language
-The Reading is my worst subject and by taking practice test i look for the types of questions like what the mood of the passage, emotions of characters, etc. and then learn when and where to find each in a normal passage
  • Also when i study and take practice tests i take them with friends in my study group who individually got a (33/34 me), 34, 35, 28. I feel it is more fun to study in a group and that way i don’t feel a daunting feeling which i do while taking tests by myself

—Ask me any further question about taking the test, studying, or other if you have any

Strong knowledge…Do you even ACT? Writing score has no effect on composite. Come on brah.

What do you suggest i do in the Reading section since i have a low score. I mean if i go slowly and try to understand what i am doing it takes me 10 minutes per passage then ill have 5 minutes on the last passage.

I’d say that the best thing to do on the reading as cliche as it sounds is to practice, practice, practice. Because it will help you with reading speed and will allow you to be more adept at answering the questions.

More practice test in reading:
-Faster reading times, because you are used to reading those types of passages ( Prose fiction, Humanities, Social Science, And Science)
-Learn how the questions are worded and how to answer such questions, because when you look over your mistakes you will be able to see how they, the test-makers, want you to answer a certain archetype of questions

  • Pacing yourself, pace yourself to do each paragraph in 8 minutesish because then you have a couple extra minutes to spend elsewhere, but take longer if you need more time and less time if you understand a passage well

(I do the reading section backwards because i do better on the Social Studies/Science section which i got a 17 subscore than on the arts/literature which i did awfully -personally- and got a 13, but this is personal prefrence and you might want to try to do the passages in reverse order once to see how it works out.)

mmmm yeah i think ill try it backwards then, but for sure i know i wont be able to finish each passage in 8 minutes maybe 9 minutes at the most and how did you prepare for the sciene part

For the science section i always did well practice tests were (36,35,35,33) so i only took practice tests to know how they ask questions, but to really study for science you should ggo through a section slowly and try to get every question eight and then work on improving speed.

Well i got a 16 in the science because i was moving to slow and frooze up, but i really need the most help on the english? anything on that maybe

English from a 36’er-

Get a good prep book and go over the grammar section- you need to be able to immediately recognize an error, not necessarily learn what they are called (nominatives, infinitives, blah blah blah). Take a lot of practice tests- this is the best way to improve your English score (while for math, you should learn the concepts).
