Score Ranges in "Blue Book" and Preparation Plan

I was using the Kaplan Premier Program, but after reading on the forums that none of the "third party" study guides use actual questions from the SAT, I abandoned it in favor of the "blue book".

I'm taking the SATs in October, and maybe again in December (SAT IIs in November).

The score range is huge, though...

I just finished the second test of the book with a 1990-2290. (M: 690-770, V: 640-720, W: 660-800). I'm hoping for a 2250 or better on test day. Is this reasonable? I'm sure the actual score will be less because of my nerves. I keep on making stupid, careless errors, especially on the math, by overlooking words. I would like a 760 or better on the math.

I have 8 tests left in the book. I can take them 9/29, 9/30, 10/1, 10/2, 10/6. 10/7, 10/8. I can probably fit the remaining two somewehere during the week. Would that be a bad idea, to cram all these tests in? I am good at recognizing these paterns in the questions and my score has been steadily rising.

I'm applying to competitive schools, so at the very least, I'm hoping for a 2250. Cooper Union, Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, and a few others.
