I got a mail from ACT that they are about to cancel my September score because my score is inconsistent with the test I took on April and was similar to the answers with someone who took the same test form. I did not cheat. Also, the scores from April was English 19, math 31, reading 34, science 27, and my September score was 31,35,33,31. Only my English scores were dramatically different and I had intense tutor on my English over the whole summer vacation. How should I do?! I’m waiting for the UC decisions and I’ve already got accepted by Purdue. I would like to choose the third option which says to send a personal statement supporting the validity and my high school transcript. If I would choose the third option, how should I write the personal statement?? And is the score colleges might be looking at is the previous test score not the one they are trying to cancel??? PLEASE HELP
I’d say choose the third option, and ask your counselor for help, after explaining the situation. Write about how you had lots of tutoring for English, which will explain the score discrepancy. Try to keep your tone even and calm. Be very honest and carefully explain all the relevant details of your test. Refrain from accusatory or panicked statements. Also, I don’t understand your last question. Can you clarify? I’m so sorry that this happened. I hope everything can work itself out. Congratulations on getting accepted by Purdue!
What on earth? I have never heard of this happening before. Also, that’s crazy. NOW they tell you. Jeez.
Choose the third option but also find some way to talk to someone at ACT who has some sort of authority on this. Be honest, send documentation and resolve this as quickly as possible.
Let us know what happens!
i meant so if they are trying to cancel my score, what score are colleges looking at rn?

@kathy00 yep look at the thread above…this is a hot topic and seems to happen more than anyone wants to hear about. It is very sad. Based on the above thread by @ktrrights it seems that no one is winning on this one. Sadly, it seems to happen in the Spring of senior year for many. Good luck. I am very sorry to hear this.
I have one more question. So IF i cancel my score, what would happen to the schools i got accepted or waitlisted???can they reject me after getting another score of my act?even after they accepted me?
Also UC admissions are coming out this or next week which means its gonna be before the cancellation of my score in this case. Are they looking at my highest score to decide? Im confused
We are going through the same thing. My son is a senior and this letter comes 15 months after test. He made a 28. We are panicked bc he has to accept scholarships by may 1.
