A 2230 won’t hurt your chances for admission, especially since you have a 1500 Math + Critical Reading.

It’s an excellent score in the top 1% of the population. Every kid in my school who has gotten into ivy league (level) schools like Columbia, MIT, Cornell, UPenn, etc. all have had scores between 1990-2280.

Your score’s excellent; CC is great at skewing opinions. Thanks to CC, I retook a similar score only to be forced to cancel because I thought I went down significantly.

Focus on your SAT II’s. If you’re that worried about math, go and nail Math Level 2. In addition, nail subject tests in what you plan to major in. That’ll help you a lot more than a few more points on this exam.

I’ll be studying for all my subject tests, as well as working on a ton of other stuff (ECs, comm classes and so forth) so I’m not sure I’ll have the time to really prepare for it again…and if I do I’ll have to take the March administration. My counselor is advising me not to retake; he’s also telling me to focus my energies elsewhere. I’m really not too worried about the math (from what I hear, getting an 800 on Math II might actually be easier for me than an 800 on SAT math) and if colleges know the essay is BS, then I suppose I’m doing alright.

If you haven’t taken your SAT IIs, spend time/effort/testing date on those. SAT IIs in 750-800 rather than 650-700 is better than 100 points on math

Retake…it doesn’t hurt. Plus, like some other s have stated writing and math are the easiest to improve and top colleges like Stanford are really competitive nowadays, you want every little boost if you’re capable
