Read a lot, pay attention in class, and take practice tests for an hour twice a week. This is what I do, and I use Kaplan’s flash cards when I have a spare moment or two. I went from a 182 on the PSAT with no prep at all to a 2000-2100 on practice tests this way. Though on the PSAT, I didn’t answer any of the grid-ins, I forgot about them, so that might be one reason it was so low… So maybe my improvement’s not that massive, but you see what I mean.

I’m at about:
740 Writing
700 Critical Reading
620 Math

By the way, you’re probably not taking the CR part right… Don’t read the story first, don’t read it ubtil you must! When you see a question asking about a certain line of a story, go to it and answer the question. This works for all of the questions like this, leaving you with only questions about the author’s general tone, style, and purpose. Ohh, and the questions that compare passage 1 and passage 2. Just thought I’d help you with that.
