I am currently a freshman at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. I am planning on studying screen arts with a possible emphasis on screenwriting, and maybe dabbling in theater as well. I also have a double major in Political Science (may change to Philosophy- both on a potentially pre-legal track) which I would like to keep.

I am considering applying to USC School of Cinematic Arts- I was accepted into the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences last year as a freshman admit before I was interested in pursuing film. I would ideally like to go to the film school but double major in poli sci through LAS.

My question is this: Because I have little ability to produce competent application material for the film school by February 1st, I cannot directly into Cinematic Arts. Should I apply for LAS again and attend as a sophomore? I believe they will allow me to minor in Cinematic Arts? And then through this minor apply for a second major withing the Cinematic Arts school?
Or should I stay in Michigan and major in screen arts (already within the College of Literature, Science and the Arts) until I can produce a decent quality film and then apply to USC Cinematic Arts directly as either a junior or senior admit?

Thanks!
