picking a major

Does the major you put on your application affect whether or not you will be accepted? More specifically...

I know my 1st choice is Film/TV Production, so if I get rejected at the film school, but get into USC, will I still be able to go to USC under another major?

And if my second choice is a major at CAS (History) will it affect my admission decision?

Yes it does.

Depending on your stats, it is possible to get into USC, but rejected from the film school. That would mean that you'd be enrolled in the College of LAS.

So, I guess it would be okay to put my 1st choice major as Film/TV production, and say, my section choice as Film/TV Critical studies?

So even if I got rejected at the film school (rejected in both majors), but accepted at USC... I could still attend under another major (not on my application)?

Yes, it will ask for two choices of majors and a professional emphasis, if any, on the application.
