To start off, I apologize if I posted this on the wrong board. I just today signed up.
Anyway, I was wondering if you guys could give me your opinions on my current situation. I’m going in for a Computer Science degree and I’m currently at Vance-Granville CC looking to transfer. If it’s relevant at all, I’m 16 years old under their CCP program. Technically my first semester was last summer but I don’t count it because they were classes irrelevant to my degree, but I made an 80% in one and an 85% in the other.
What I’m really worried about is this semester. I’m taking 3 classes: Math 171, English 111, and Chem 151. I feel like I’m off to a really bad start and I’m worried, my current average in Pre-Calculus is an 85, and my average in English 111 is around a 90, but Gen. Chem I has an average of 67%, and I’ve been told by my professor that if I make a 75% in the next test and the final exam, I can pass the class with a 72 which would be a C. I screwed up on my first and second tests, making a 56 on the first and a 66 on the second, but I have a very high lab average which helps balance it out. The tests weigh 15% each (including the final) so 60% of the grade is in tests.
There are people in my class taking the same classes I am taking that are making 95’s in each, and it makes me feel like I’m off to a bad start or that I’m stupid or just… anything. Am I in a really bad spot? If I’m doing terrible, please don’t sugar-coat it, I need to hear the harsh truth. If I’m not disclosing enough information, please let me know, I’m new to all of this.
Thank you for helping!
