Screwed up freshman and sophomore years. Am I doomed?

I didn't really try for freshman and sophomore years, and got tons of Bs (although I challenged myself and took 1 of the 2 APs available for sophomores and the rest were honors courses). For junior year, I stepped it up a bit, and managed to end up with a 94 average with mostly AP classes in my schedule. Even though I improved a lot, am I still screwed for top schools? If I mention my growth and improvement in my essay will it help to alleviate my craptacular freshman and sophomore years? Thanks in advance.

PS. My dream school is NYU at the moment. I'm aware that I probably have zero chance for any ivies :(

You’ll be fine

Improving as you go through high school certainly helps your cause. I suggest going to

Search for NYU in the box on the left hand side. Then click on the “How Do I Stack Up?” link. The stats don’t tell the whole story of an application but it will give you a very good idea of where you stand versus the average attending freshman.

No chance at all unless ur smug
