Look, I have no clue about Ivy admissions, but I don’t think your freshman year grades will be much of a problem, as long as you explain why you made crappy grades. You could talk about your growth as a student in your essay, and what triggered you to care about schoolwork (which you obviously do now). The reason I’m even replying is bc I screwed up freshman year also, but I’ve improved so much since then (this is my CommonApp essay topic). It shouldn’t matter as long as the AdCom sees your improvement (but again, idk about Ivies).

Same as above, Ivies will be a bit tough… but if you just explain… then it’ll be okay… I guess? You have the advantages of your race and legacy which are very good. Your ECs and standardized test scores are very good as well. Write good essays and have good teacher recs. Other than that, don’t worry! I see you getting into most of those colleges. Best of luck and chance me back!

You can use that to your advantage. Write a paragraph in an additional information document about how you screwed up freshman year, but then you had such and such revelation because of such and such, and you’re a really hard worker, you’re determined to always improve, etc.

It explains the grades and makes you look even better than you already are.
