Screwed up my transcript - How bad is this?

I submitted an ED application to Barnard where I indicated that I had received college credit for a summer pre-college course (not taken there, but at the Pratt Institute). However, I just realized that I didn’t submit a transcript from Pratt to back this up. I’ve already e-mailed the office of admission explaining my situation and asking how to submit, but they have an automatic response that says it may be 2-3 days before they can see and respond to the email. It’s already 20 days late! They’ve probably already read my Common App! I’m really worried that this may jeopardize my application. Does anyone know if and when they require transcripts to be submitted and if this will hurt me? I realize that this is 100% my fault and they shouldn’t have to make exceptions for me.

I don’t think it is a huge deal. Make arrangements to submit the transcript from Pratt ASAP.

You can also try calling admissions if you want a quicker answer.

It makes me so sad to hear the stress and worry! First, you’ve indicated you’ve done a summer program, and it gave college credit for the work. Typically applicants don’t provide extensive proof that they’ve done a summer program, just like other experiences or extracurriculars. It definitely was worth noting that it was rigorous enough to get credit for. However… Barnard won’t really care all that much about the official transcript for this until they credit your academic transcript as a first year. Even then, Barnard typically gives elective credit, but it doesn’t really count for much else. My point is that proving how much academic credit you have from this is really not a huge issue in admissions. I’m sure they are familiar with Pratt and have a good understanding of what you did there. I think transcripts are more an issue when there is extensive coursework at a different school or community college.

This process is very difficult and stressful. Hopefully in another month you will be done! Hang in there, my daughter’s experience has been that college is almost relaxing compared to admissions!!

Thank you so much for the reassurance! I was, admittedly, pretty panicked when I was writing this post because I’d just seen a thread about pre-college credit saying that it was absolutely necessary to send a transcript. I’ve since received a response from the admissions office and they said that, while it’s not necessary, I can send a transcript now if I so please. Regardless, your comment is very sweet and informative and your kindness is putting a smile on my face in these stressful times, so thank you <3 !

I’ve taken college classes and mentioned it in my transcript. My college counselor said they’re going to ask for it if I get accepted to Barnard, besides that it doesn’t matter. I reached out to Barnard anyways and they said if I want, I can have a person from the college to send it in but it won’t hurt me since that part is optional. You can just send it in if you get in! Good luck
