Okay, so College Admissions Fatigue had set in after i'd already applied to over 10 schools with four left over, which happened to be the best schools on my list (Cornell, UPenn, Tufts, NYU). What are the chances that they'll accept my essay even though it's really late (around 2:00)? I still haven't submitted UPenn because I haven't finished the supplement, would it be a complete waste of money to submit it later in the afternoon?

You mean later tomorrow? It might be too late by then. Try to get as many submitted right now as possible. How much more work do you have?

P.S. If you're strapped for time, don't bother writing the optional essay.

All you can do is try; if commonapp.org accepts your submission (instead of telling you the deadline has passed), you should be ok. I doubt that commonapp.org will allow you to submit in the afternoon past the deadline.

Here's some information from the Common App Support Center on submitting after the deadline... in short, you may be able to if you can find a kind soul in the Admissions office to help you out.

Can I submit my application after the deadline?
You must contact the college(s) for permission to submit after the deadline. If the school will allow the submission, they must contact us directly.
