Scripps College ED I - Class of 2020

Is anyone else on here applying early decision to Scripps? I just submitted my application last night and I’m so relieved for it to be out of my hands now.

I submitted mine 2 nights b4 it was due… feeling super nervous… want to know if I get in right away lol.

Does anyone know if scripps gives a good amount of financial aid? The college is super expensive but I REALLY want to go there if admitted

“good amount” is very objective. Did you run the Net Price Calculator? That should give you an idea. They are a meets full need school, so that’s in your favor.

@ariasmith75 This site has a pretty comprehensive breakdown of the net cost at different income levels http://www.collegecalc.org/colleges/california/scripps-college/. I also saw this aid breakdown somewhere, but I can’t remember where I pasted it from:
12% receive up to $60K
18% receive up to $50K
26% receive up to $30K
44% pay full tuition, room and board

Where are you applying from?

Hello friends! NorCal applicant here! Was a little timid at first, but went ahead and did this any way. How are all of us faring with the wait?

@basedchem Hi there! I’m from NorCal too! The wait is feeling too long at the moment. I wish December 15th was here already.

YOU GUYS HAVE NO IDEA HOW NERVOUS I AM FOR DEC 15

Is Scripps everyone’s first choice?

Huh? If you are applying ED it should be your far and away first choice. My applying ED you are saying “I will commit if accepted”.*

*Yes, technically you can decline if the finances are not there, but in my opinion you should do your homework (running the NPC) and apply only if you honestly feel you can pay–(not if you are just hoping that a huge miracle will happen).

Anyway…good luck to all of you! Scripps is a great school!

@ariasmith75 Definitely! Scripps is the only school I’m applying to actually. How about you?

I’m applying to all the UCs as well. The reason I applied to Scripps is that I love the small classroom sizes in which the student can get help and feedback from professors. In contrast, the UC schools have classes filled with people, which makes me a bit hesitant and worried. If Scripps does not work out for whatever reason, I’ll probably end up going to a UC and thank you for posting the financial aid info! @Mookiedoggy

Another person from my school is applying here ED :((

Um… what if you don’t get in?

I second @intparent 's concerns. @Mookiedoggy What makes you think you’re in (granted, if you aren’t a recruited athlete)? If you don’t mind me asking.

Wait guys, anyone know the exact date for decisions?

@intparent @basedchem Oh I don’t mean to sound as if I’m confident of being accepted, definitely not the case. I’m reapplying on a gap year and if I don’t get accepted I’ll just go to my local community college. Scripps is my dream school, so I figure It’s worth a shot.

@basedchem They usually don’t release an official decision date for ED I, just that you’ll receive one in “mid-December”. In 2014 they were released on the 15th and in 2013 they were released on the 13th.

Does anyone know what the acceptance rate is for ED?

@basedchem what other schools are you applying to?
