Scripps College ED I-Class of 2021

So sorry @mclarkin. You sound like a very gracious and classy young woman. Good luck to you.

I’m so sorry @mclarkin wishing you all the best with the rest of your apps; you seem like a very strong candidate. Do you have any idea though what might’ve went wrong, or do you think it was random/unlucky? Would you say your stats fit the range of Scripps? I’m truly stunned that this would happen.

My daughter just got accepted today! She has wanted to go there since 7th grade! So proud of her!

@ClaremontMom congratulations on your daughter! My daughter was just accepted and is so happy! Just starting this crazy journey! Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi @SageMom - Thanks! Congrats to your D…it’s a great school. Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions. I guess the one piece of advice I would give to your D is to take advantage of all the resources there starting with professors. There are some amazing professors there that love to teach and care about their students.

Thanks @ClaremontMom ! We received the actual letter today and she was awarded the James E Scripps scholarship today! So excited and very relieved that the tuition burden will be a bit easier! Scripps is beautiful but pricey!! We are still looking for more merit scholarship opportunities!

Congrats! That’s a great award…my D received it as well and it really made a difference for us. I PM’d you with some additional info.

Congratulations to all who got in! I was deferred so I am a little disappointed, but not giving up hope just yet  Here are my stats for reference. If anyone has any advice as to how to respond to a deferral, please feel free to let me know

Hi all, I know this is a thread for ED applicants, but I was wondering about the “Why Scripps?” essay. I have it written, but I feel like I need to make it more specific to Scripps, as right now besides mentioning the other Claremont Colleges, I could swap out the name for any small, liberal arts, women’s college. Anyone have any tips?

It’s all women, supportive, politically engaged women, arguably more important now with all the unknowns coming after Jan 20. It’s diverse in the way only a California school can be. It’s beautiful and fragrant: where else can you pick a meyer lemon and maybe an avocado on the way to your studio art class? Do you know how many couples use the campus for their wedding pictures? A lot! And last, definitely last: the 5cs. If they hear a whiff off “most of all I’d get to take classes at Pomona,” automatic reject. GL!

@lilgalic my daughter attended an all girl Catholic high school so she knows first hand the benefits of single gender education. A big part of her high school’s philosophy was leadership development for women. So in her essay to Scripps she wrote about all the opportunities she was afforded for leadership positions in an all girl school. She also mentioned specific programs at Scripps that interested her. I think Scripps admissions really just want to make sure their college is a good fit for you. So make sure you discuss why Scripps is the perfect place for you to succeed. Good luck!

@jennixx15 was your gpa out of 4.0?

@jb1999 Yes! If it also helps it converts to around a 98.5/100. How are you feeling?!
