Thank you!
SDSU has a cute series on Instagram (or maybe it was their TikTok) where students ride the Trolley or bus somewhere. It seems they can get pretty much anywhere; it just takes a little time.
FYI: My son just now received an email confirming the snail-mailed Weber Honors College admit. There’s a link to sign up for a March 19 Zoom event. They also point out to be sure to accept both SDSU and WHC by May 1, not just SDSU.
Has anyone heard about the SDSU Merit Scholar decisions yet? The email had send February so was just wondering.
A post was merged into an existing topic: SDSU 2022 Transfers
anyone know when direct admit nursing will be out?
Nursing decisions along with the rest of the Freshman decisions should be out within the next few weeks.
What day do you guys think decisions will be out for political science?
Decisions usually do not come out by major with the exception of Nursing. Nursing admits heard March 8 last year while other majors heard March 11. Again, another record breaking year with applications so I would expect students should start hearing any day. They do come out in waves so not all decisions are posted at the same time. They are posted over a couple of weeks.
Thank you for all of your input…you are very helpful to everyone on here! I hope you know how appreciated you are!
My daughter is also accepted and was also accepted into Honors. She also worries about Greek Life. Glad to know other students are thinking the same!!
Ahhh social life, greek life, campus activity for students without a car… so much to consider when you are picking a school. My son is junior at SDSU now and my younger son was just admitted as a transfer.
The campus is alive with activity pretty much all the time. We like seeing college campuses so tour them often on vacations just for fun. SDSU has one of the most active campuses I’ve ever visited. There are always people around. They have the open air concert theater, Viejas arena for bigger shows and sports, they are building a new football stadium not far from campus which should be done very soon too. Friday nights are Aztec nights in the student union- themed activities to get the kids out socializing in a safe environment.
Safety: There are some unsavory types that hang around SDSU and they will approach you and ask for money. I asked my son if it gets sketchy late at night since I know he often traverses the campus at that hour going from point A to point B. He says on weekend nights it is as crowded as the county fair at 3 am with people everywhere.
There is crime. Download the clery report for details. Mostly theft but some robbery type crime.
Greek life is a large part of the social life on campus if your child wants to attend huge college parties. Guys can only get into the frat parties if they are members of the frat. Apparently this is for security purposes. There is more flexibility, I guess, for girls and their friends to get in if they know a frat member. I know zero about sorority life there. The off campus houses have parties but there is a law that imposes heavy fines for large crowds which is used to control that in the surrounding neighborhoods to some degree. (Not very successfully from what i hear.)
I don’t favor sending a car for younger students. They really don’t need one. There is plenty to do near state and there is the trolley and uber if they really need to go anywhere.
There are tons of clubs and activities to join where you can meet people if greek life isn’t your thing. My son did not pledge freshman year and still had a large group of friends he met in his dorm. Sounds like the social life is tougher for transfers, but I guess well figure that out this year. I really have nothing but good things to say about SDSU. I think it is big enough and busy enough so that there is a community there for everyone.
@Gumbymom
Do you expect Nursing decisions today? And other major’s decisions later in the week?
I have no idea sorry. Last year was an anomaly since Nursing decisions came out first. Usually they come out after or with the Regular decisions. Many of the Cal State decisions have been delayed based on last year’s timeline, so only admissions knows when they will be posting.
My son was just admitted to SDSU tonight (email notification at 8pm). The portal lists his major as Music Recording Tech and Audio Design, his first choice, for which he submitted a portfolio. He was told he would hear directly from the music school regarding acceptance into that program, in addition to notification about his acceptance to SDSU. Can we assume that he is now officially accepted in the music program, as noted in the portal?
Congrats!!!
Any idea on when Mechanical Engineering decisions come out?
Congrats!!! Hopeful more freshman decisions will be released soon.
I lived in Zura hall in the late 80’s LOL
