@SBVett, I sent in my transcripts way back in January. I even went there to talk to them personally and they double checked my file and made sure they had everything they needed from me, including all transcripts. So now I’m just anxiously waiting…I’m sick of seeing ‘Pending’

Got denied a week ago
3.59 GPA, IGETC completed, every major req (Child and Adolescent Development) completed (except for one that wasn’t offered in the closest FIVE community colleges)
I’m out of area, so I guess that’s why I was denied. I was extremely surprised though, I was expecting my GPA tobe good enough.
Got accepted to Fullerton as an in area student though, thank goodness.

@jmatheus, that’s such torture! I’ve been emailing them back and forth since January as well and they helped me sort it out with the agency that made the mistake. They might just be holding our decisions like they are everyone else’s. You’d think they’d be anxious to know who their next awesome students will be, but apparently not… lol

Child development at SDSU is like Nursing at a lot of schools. EVERYBODY that wants to be a teacher in San Diego applies for that. Don’t feel too bad.

I have to admit, Im getting kind of bummed. I think my admission might be messed up by SB 1440, which created AA-T & AS-T transfer associate degrees. SDSU says they give priority to those transfer student with those degrees. My community college applied for, but has not yet received approval for, the major I am seeking. So even though I have every unit and course that is required for the AA-T degree in History, I only have an AA in History, not the AA-T transfer degree.

I figure, those who have not been admitted yet, have 5 or 6 more business days. Its tomorrow or next week for us that are waiting approval because the big Open House is on Saturday, March 23rd. That is the tours, exhibits, meeting professors and so forth.

jmonroe I just got an email. Apparently transfers in these programs have to wait until early April. I’m pretty annoyed now -.-". I know I should be patient, but comon…

Transfer Majors Pending Admission Decisions:
Administration of Justice (Criminal Justice)
Art History
Communication (BA Applied) and Health Communication
History
Mathematics (emphasis in science only)
Physics (BS General Physics and BS Modern Optics)
Political Science
Sociology
Theatre (emphasis in youth theatre only)

gadget, did they give any explanation? Or just say April 1st? LOL you know that day that is!

I guess people could attend the open house anyway.

I got the same email @gogogadget … Im actually pretty mad it’s taking this long. They’ll probably let us know until mid April…

@gogogadgetflow and @maggyana, is that all the email said? That’s cutting it close with their SIR deadline of May 1st.
And I wonder if they have already made decisions on all the other majors… I applied for biology and at least the portal still shows pending
I hope they don’t take too long anymore! And hopefully for you guys it will be early April

It doesn’t say much but it also says:
Transfer applicants to these majors who have completed or are in progress to complete the STAR Act Associate Degree for Transfer by spring 2013 must verify, prior to admission decisions being made in April, that they are on track to earn or have earned this degree to receive priority consideration.

Yeah hopefully they tell us soon, not half a month before May 1. I wonder why your still pending… Do you have an AA-T?

No, I only have a regular AA I do have all the transfer and major requirements done and a 4.0 CCC GPA. I think I’m still pending because I went to college overseas for 2 years and they might be taking that into consideration. Or because “my area” is CSUSM, but then they should just tell me no already.
Thanks for your reply with more details do you have an AA-T? It seems like a good deal with them.

Under SB 1440 there is also a Biology AS-T. It looks like they are giving priority to those with AA-T and AS-T degrees. That is what seems to be the hold up for transfers.

yeah i have an AA-T in sociology but i dont live in the area and i hear they give priority to those who do.

It sounds like you’ll get in tho, hopefully they let you know soon

I went to college overseas also and they acted like they didn’t know what “military” was…

@smurray, what do you mean about them pretending to ignore the military? I had heard that they kinda gave preference to military/military dependents who applied (source - a friend who goes to SDSU, nothing official). They even had a checkbox in the application for that. Anyway, did you have any issues with your foreign transcripts? I went through hell almost to get them to SDSU, lol!
I think it’s nice that people with an associates for transfer get an advantage in admissions. I just hope they still consider the rest of us. I just double checked and my ccc doesn’t offer an AS-T in bio.
And about the area you live in, I think all CSUs sort of protect their own areas. We’ll see how SDSU will decide. Keep thinking positive, everyone!

@SBVett, I’m sorry, I posted inaccurate info on the Biology AA. There is not a requirement for a biology AS-T. That degree is in development (being vetted) and will probably appear in the next year. So for now, it’s not going to be an issue with the CSU’s.

Thanks for clearing that up jmonroe! On a happy note, I have no more documents pending with SDSU, it all says “received” now, but the decision is still pending. The “admission status date” still shows February 8, so obviously they opened my file and changed stuff and that date didn’t change. Someone on another thread said that that date changes every time they open the file. Not so sure what it means now. At least we know they’re working on it!:)

Has anyone been able to verify their AS-T/AA-T degree with SDSU? I’ve been on the phone for a while trying to get this done. This is in response to the email sent by SDSU admissions about decisions being made in early April.

@SBVett They kept asking why I went to University of Maryland University College - Europe. They were giving me a hard time and then asked me if I was resident, then said that I would be undetermined unless I got accepted and could prove I was a resident. I never had to send transcripts. I thought you only had to do that if you got accepted. I almost have an AA in General Studies, but I that didn’t help at all with admissions. I had to stop going to my CC because it was taking too long to advance while I was there. CC was overcrowded and horrible. I’m originally from SD but since my parents are military of course we move around like crazy, so now I’m stationed in Lancaster, CA, according to the service area, our school is Northridge and Bakersfield. Anyways, hope you get in!

@smurray, as far as the residency goes, I’m also undetermined and they told me if I get accepted then I have to prove residency, so same as you. And I’m at Camp Pendleton About the transcripts, I don’t know if it’s standard for them to want transcripts before making a decision, but on my status page I have under the required for admission: “Initial College Transcripts: (include grades through fall)”, all received (and this includes my foreign transcripts), and then “Final College Transcripts: (include grades through spring)”.
If yours doesn’t show this, then I’m sure you’re fine. But then how did they know all the classes you’ve taken before? I don’t remember there being room on the application for completed coursework. Just curious.
