*SDSU Fall 2013 Transfer Student Official Decisions Thread*

@smurtay09 I live in Vista, but I go to Palomar Community College so I spend SO much time in San Marcos. I like the town, if i wasn’t from North County I’d want to go to csusm. It has everything really. Where do you live now?

@Amtest I used to live in Vista also! Right now I live in Lancaster close to Magic mountain. Not feeling it up here at all! Was hoping I could go back home, either to San Marcos or SD… But idk how that’s going to work out for me now.

@smurray09 Did you apply to csusm?

Don’t fret. My application is also still “Pending.” And now it’s the weekend, so more days to wait :-/
I live in San Diego, live 10 minutes away from the campus.
My major is History.
Transferring from a local community college with two A.A. degrees.
GPA is 3.85
76 transferable units

@amtest yes!

@jmonroe you’ll definitely get in.

accepted as Business Admin w/marketing major on March 1st. 78 transferrable units w/ IGETC completed and 3.6 GPA. Transferring from Orange Coast College in Orange County, CA. SDSU was my #2 choice, I got denied admission into Cal Poly SLO.

I was admitted on March 1st. I applied for Business Administration with emphasis in Human Resources. My current GPA at San Diego Mesa is 3.46 but my overall GPA is 3.18 (didn’t apply myself at Palomar in my early days of college). I have ALL of my major pre reqs completed as well as my CSU Breadth. I also live in the San Diego. I see a lot of people who write that they didn’t complete their major reqs and you HAVE to do that in order to get in if you are transferring. I think it just comes down to who they will take and who they won’t take as long as you meet the minimum GPA.

And also where you live. You guys keep forgetting that part.

jmonroe You should be fine, my friend. Obviously if the decision was during the week, it’d put our mind to ease, but for now we’d have to wait until the next week and be hopeful.

3.85 transferring from a local CC should be just fine. I’ve known some 3.2’s who got accepted as as a transfer. The GPA requirements are much lower for CC transfers than other university transfers and high school students.

i finally called the admission office today hah. here’s what happened…

“bla bla it’s hard for transfers to change their major bla bla” BUUUUT it’s up to the DEPARTMENT of your new major to accept the request. if the department accepts you then congrats, you just changed your major.

here’s the catch; you gotta clear the prereqs of the new major before you can change. and i think a hidden assumption is that your new major can’t be for reals impacted. what does that mean? when i asked the math dept. how many people major in stats each year as an undegrad, the info was roughly 50 or < 100 per year so obviously the amount fluctuates.

my advice is if you’re trying to switch into a major that’s for reals impacted @sdsu like idk business/enlgish or something…good luck on that. despite all majors being “impacted”, the process for transfers switching into a non popular major seems relatively easy.

It seems that ALL majors are impacted however…

It’s March 12th, my app is still pending, and it feels like mid-March to me.

Anyway, in case you didn’t see it… this is the list of impacted majors…

[Welcome to the Office of Advising and Evaluations](<a href=“Welcome | Office of the Registrar | SDSU”>Welcome | Office of the Registrar | SDSU)

jmonroe same… I’ve been waiting for awhile and I’m starting to get impatient! Comon SDSU! Whether it’s a rejection, acceptance, or waitlist I REALLY WANT TO KNOW!

I’m still waiting to hear back too… Transfer, 3.95 GPA, Political science major, Ventura/ Fresno City College.

This stuff makes me so anxious!

Hey guys, I’m wondering if anyone else also has an item still showing as “required for admission” on their admission status. I have foreign transcripts and the agency that evaluated them (IERF) didn’t mail SDSU my transcripts with the evaluation. I contacted SDSU last month and explained what happened, that it wasn’t my fault, and that the agency would send the transcripts separately. They said that there wouldn’t be any problems because of this delay, and changed the due date for the transcripts from March 01 to May 01. I can’t help but notice that May 01 is also the deadline to submit the intent to register form… I also know for a fact my transcripts got to SDSU last week and when I called on Monday they told me it takes them several days to get through all the mail they receive. Thoughts?? Anyone ever heard of them changing the due date for a required doc to May 01?? Any ideas will be helpful :)

Good luck to everyone!

I’m pretty annoyed by how long I’ve had to wait for SDSU’s admissions… I’ve heard back from all the other schools but this one…

@gogogadetflow Don’t feel bad, I feel the same way with CSUN, CSUSM, and Fresno State. They won’t do anything until I send them my last transcripts with my Final Math grade. I don’t think that’s correct because I’ve seen other people on this forum who have rec’d their admissions status regardless if they finished ALL of their Golden 4 classes.

@SBVett, I’m in the same position as you. I have an international transcript which is making my portal say I still have something that’s required but when I talked to them about it, they keep saying that they have everything they need to evaluate my file. I have a feeling that my file will get assessed later since it says I still require stuff. I hope that’s not the case and they let me know sooner than later. This waiting is killing me.

@jmatthews, I know!! I thought I was gonna have heard from sdsu by this time! Well, good to know I’m not alone, lol! I thought that maaaybe since they already have everything to evaluate my case - and looks like yours too - they could be just waiting on the transcript to get there to post the decision. I have a feeling that as soon as they change the “required” to “official received” I will also have a decision! Which is why it’s making me so anxious that I know my transcripts are there, but nothing yet, haha. I may be wrong, but it’s something to keep my thoughts busy… Did you appeal about the transcript? Or did they receive it already? Good luck!!
