SDSU Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

Hello everyone!
I wanted to start a thread for us transfers.
My Stats:
Major: Business Admin Financial Services
GPA: 3.92
AD-T/AS-T: yes! It will bump my gpa up to a 4.02
Prereqs: Will be completed by end of Spring
Golden Four: A, A, A, A
Local: No, Moorpark College
Applied: SDSU, Cal Poly SLO, Long Beach, Fullerton, Chico

Hereā€™s mine!
Major: Information Systems
GPA: 3.926
Prereqs: Will be completed by end of Spring
Golden Four: A, A, A, A
Local: No, MiraCosta College (northern SD county)
ADT: Does not apply, but I will get my associates in business in the Spring anyways
Applied: SDSU, SJSU, CSULB, CSUSM

Question, anyone know when we can start the supplemental application? Been checking everyday. Got my supplemental app for CSULB but I am awaiting SDSU and SJSU to enable me to complete the app. I donā€™t think CSUSM has one.

Just wanted to leave this here for anyone transfers wanting to estimate their odds of getting in, especially if you are non local: https://asir.sdsu.edu/admission-data/applications-by-major/

Major: Mechanical engineering
GPA: 3.4
Pre reqs: Done after spring
Golden four: Complete
ADT: Does not apply
Local: Yes.

Same here, isnt the deadline the 22nd? Im tripping dude.

Got the notice of supplemental application today and just looked at it. They ask that you calculate your own GPA for transferable courses. Iā€™m freaking out because I spent one semester at another university and 3 semesters at a CC, and my university courses are not listed on assist.org etc. Most should be accepted for credit per my counselor (e.g. Intro to Psych), but a couple are big question marks. When I contacted admissions (as suggested by my CC counselor) to see if a particular course would be accepted I was told that admissions would determine that when processing my application. So not helpful. I donā€™t know whether to include them or not when calculating my GPA for the supplemental application. Any insights?

Hi, @Rottgrrl my daughter was told by several counselors from several of the CSUā€™s that she should use all the classes that she took everywhere to calculate her transfer GPA. She also had credits from an out-of-state school. She was told to use everything and each school would take what they ā€˜wantedā€™ and it is up to that particular school to say which course was acceptable to them. So I would assume that that GPA should match what is calculated for you on the CSU Apply.
I guess it is better to be safe than sorry.

Hey guys I have a question. I was just doing my supplemental and I found out that I am missing a requirement. Am I screwed?

Major: Computer Engineering
GPA: 3.22
Prereq: will complete except 1 class (not offered)
Golden 4: Completed
Area: Local
ADT: Does not apply
Just wondering, as noted above, theres a major prep class thats not offered at the college im currently going to, Mesa College, and none of the other community colleges offer it as well. Ive talked to 2 counselors recently and they both said i dont have to worry about it, is that true or are my chances of getting in screwed because of it?

I found out I am missing 2 requirements when doing the supplemental app. Hoping im not screwed either :frowning:

I applied for ā€œfinancial servicesā€ major, but it doesnā€™t show up on here, do you think it is labeled as ā€œFinancial and Tax Planning?ā€

Which class/ requirement specifically? If itā€™s not one of the accounting classes, statistics, or business calc class, I would think you would still have a good chance of getting in considering the rest of your profile statistics.

@ColeSnyd its just the bus communication class!

I was able to look up the major code 05043 and yes it looks to be the same thing

Any way you could take it online at another college? Iā€™ve talked to a lot of councellors and from what Iā€™ve heard, not having even a single class can really impact your odds of getting in. Your GPA, like mine after i recalculated, is 3.92 so hopefully we both get in.

Keep in mind that based on the statistics thereā€™s a lot of applicants, most of them local with priority. Not having even one class could put a handful of locals above you, which is saying a lot because only about 40 people got in as a transfer last year with your major.

Only 40 people?!?! Thats crazy. But yeah if you could try to take an online class at another cc, thatā€™s what i did last semester with the information systems class; I took it at saddleback college as a late start class. But Iā€™m taking business comm this semester online and I checked to see if thereā€™s any open spots in my class or others but all of them have like 10 people on the waitlist. I know thereā€™s a website that allows you to put in which class you are looking for and it will find online classes at other cal ccā€™s that have an open spots in that class. Thatā€™s how i found my class. Iā€™ll try to find the website for you rn.
