Hi! So I’m currently a senior in high school and I just applied for at SDSU under Kinesiology for Fall 2020. How competitive is it to get in as a freshman for this major? If you or anyone you know was accepted, what were you GPA and SAT/ACT test scores?
All majors are impacted at SDSU and are competitive. What are your Stats since the average CSU GPA overall regardless of major was 3.97 for 2019 admits, SAT of 1283 and ACT of 27.
You will be ranked by your eligibility index and Kinesiology major. You can check last years Admission thread to see if any Kinesio majors posted their stats.
2790 applicants last year, 1053 accepted and 343 enrolled.
My unweighted GPA is 3.75 and got an SAT score of 1270. Not the best stats so that’s why I’m wondering what other who were accepted got.
What is your capped weighted CSU GPA, since that is what will be used for the Eligibility index calculation?

The UC capped weighted GPA = CSU capped weighted GPA
EI= (CSU capped weighted GPA x 800) + (SAT Math + EBRW). The Cal states do superscore the SAT and ACT so they will take the highest scores from multiple sittings.
The target EI is 4459 which was the average based on the average CSU GPA and SAT scores from last year’s admit.
My niece is applying for Kinesiology at SDSU which is a Reach currently for her. Her stats are 4.0 Capped weighted CSU GPA and 1200 SAT. Hopefully she will be able to bump up her scores.
If you are near the target EI, I would say you have a decent chance for an acceptance. As stated above, it all depends on the EI’s of the current applicants and how you rank.
Apply widely since Kinesiology is an impacted major at the majority of Cal States. Sac State would make a great safety, has an excellent Kinesiology program and you would be eligible for their Honor’s program.
Other schools to consider, Cal state San Marcos, Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Fullerton, Cal Poly Pomona and San Jose State. You would be competitive for all these schools.
Hello!
My daughter has applied for the Kinesiology program also at SDSU. She has a 4.25, SAT score 1200 and EI is 4600. Do you think she has a decent change to get in? Also, for the Honor College, are you invited or can anyone apply? I am hearing conflicting information.
