SDSU freshman appeal fall 2016

Hi guys!
I was rejected from SDSU in late February. I appealed their decision and I called on April 8th and was told that the appeal had been received by SDSU. I’ve taken only college classes since the beginning of my Junior year in high school at a local CC. I’m an liberal arts major, so I’m not competing with my lovely STEM friends for a spot in their program. On my appeal, I stated I was the victim of a horrible crime that made it impossible for me to take the ACT for a better score and still be considered for Fall 2016 admission(they only take ACT scores up to a certain date, i think December?). I was wondering if any of you could help me and tell me more about the process and if it’s any different for a freshman applicant than it is for a transfer?(all the discussions on appeals seem to be focused more on transfer students). Also, does anyone know how many appeals they accept each year, if they set aside a certain number of spots for those wishing to appeal, or if they even necessarily take ANY students who appeal?? ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THIS PROCESS IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

GPA: 3.6
ACT: 21 (i know, it sucks)

In the same boat as you. Best of luck! SDSU is literally my dream school.

@muffin546 i got an email today saying they have received all my documents for my appeal. Do you have a similar GPA and test score?

i got the same email, and yes.

@muffin546 keep me posted!! Are you just asking for your app to be reevaluated or did you have a special circumstance or something? fingers crossed!

I had a special circumstance with my dad’s health and explained it throughout my letter. I’m extremely involved in my extra curriculars so I also used my letter as a personal statement as well and explained that my involvement in my community and on my HS campus helped me overcome the struggles at home along with pursuing my passions and how SDSU’s programs specifically would provide me with similar opportunities that would set me on the right path to success.

Hope to hear a decision soon, I’m so nervous.
