I didnt get admitted to UCSD but i got admitted to SDSU and my question is, if I want to major in microbiology should I just go to SDSU or simply go to CC for two years and then try to transfer to UCSD?
Im planning on pursuing a career in the medical field so thats also why im asking. Will attending a good school such as UCSD increase my chances of being admitted to a good medical school?
The most important factors in getting into Medical school are High GPA, High MCAT score and good volunteering/internships/shadowing related to the medical field. SDSU has a very good pre-professional advising center that will help you succeed in getting into Medical school. Many Med schools want to see take your science related courses at a 4 year university instead of a CC, so you may be limited at what you can take before transfer.
Here is a link to the advising center: http://www.sci.sdsu.edu/preprof/
Good Luck.
Another consideration - now that UCSD has withdrawn from the transfer guarantee program (TAG), getting in as a Jr transfer is competitive and unpredictable.
