SDSU Transfer Decisions Thread Fall 2017

I had a friend with GPA of 3.8 and major in bus admin - accounting and was denied admission a few days ago possibly because she forgot to submit her supplemental application. Would it be worth to appeal?

@Naitea Don’t think it’s worth it. They have so many applications and so few spots… Why are they going to take time to look over an appeal because the applicant forgot something everyone else remembered to do?

Denied Admission

Major: Communications
GPA: 3.8
Major GPA: 4.0
AA-T/AS-T: Communications - Completed (SDSU does not accept an AA-T agreement (where the university looks at your GPA 0.1 higher) for this major, however)
Pre-Req’s: Completed in Summer 2016
Golden 4: Completed in Fall 2016
Location: Orange County, CA

It was pretty disappointing to learn that I didn’t get it, especially considering that SDSU was my first admissions decision to come out; however, I am not losing hope for the other schools I applied to. Good luck and best wishes to everyone!

Edited: Wording Changes

@mattmhs They emailed me asking for unofficial transcripts to verify I was going to complete CSU Breadth and my AA-T. I never had to send official ones (not until I accept admissions offer). Have you checked the Titan portal at all?

@ccstudent1517 YOU should be eligible to file an appeal because YOU are more than qualified. I don’t understand how they are going about this. Did you happen to take more than 60 units? Just wondering. Also…this may be an embarrassing question (if it means I’m on a sure path to rejection) I declared myself as a Pre-Comm major and would be transferring without a AA/AS-T from the Bay Area, but I have completed my 4 and prereqs. I don’t see a March 15th start date on my supplemental app so has anyone similar that is still pending know if we just have to wait it out for however long or…?

@CSUtransfer2019 I have 53 units currently. By the end of this semester, I will have a total of 65 units. @emilymoon96 explained earlier in this thread that they usually do an admissions lottery since it is such an impacted school. I probably did not get picked to be reviewed. I was not offered a wait list spot.Communications is a popular major on top of that. I didn’t have a 4.0 overall GPA and I am not local so my chances were slim. I am unsure if I will appeal as SDSU is not my first choice and it would be unlikely that I would go even if I were accepted.

This is the message on my portal:

Thank you for applying to San Diego State University. After carefully reviewing your application, we are unable to offer you admission for the fall 2017 semester. Admission to SDSU is highly competitive and this year we received over 83,000 applications for 8,250 undergraduate enrollment spaces.

You are encouraged to apply for admission to San Diego State University for a future term. You must meet the admission requirements for transfer students at the time you apply. Admission information can be found at www.sdsu.edu/admissions.

SDSU has an appeals process for serious and extenuating circumstances to be reconsidered for admission. Generally, those appeals granted are very limited in number. For specific instructions on submitting an appeal, please visit www.sdsu.edu/appeals.

We wish you success as you pursue your academic and professional goals.

As for your question, I believe they do admission decisions on a rolling basis. The decision will probably come out within the next couple of days/weeks. Best of luck to you! I am hoping for good news.

I’m holding out hope that a new batch of acceptances go out today.

@ccstudent1517 Oh I deff read your post wrong and thought it was your first choice when it was actually the first response you’ve received!! And yeah that’s what I was assuming (random draw/rolling basis) but I know the chances are slim and it’s reallyyyy testing my patience. Thanks for your help! With your qualifications you are bound to receive a lot of good news soon.

From previous threads Friday 3/10 a lot of rejections go out. Then late march people heard back and some into April were still pending …

Hey Aztecs! This forum is for people who have been accepted to SDSU and want to discuss further about the school, housing, and meeting people. Start by introducing yourself:

Name: Stacy
M/F: F
Age: (if you want to) (26)
Major: Pre-Film and Television Production
Location: Costa Mesa, CA
Community College Attended: Coastline CC

Is SDSU 1st Choice?: Yes, but I’m not 100% sure on attendance just yet. It’s going to come down to cost of attendance between SDSU, CSUF, UCD, and UCSD.
I live 30 minutes from CSUF so I wouldnt have to worry about housing costs like the other schools, so that is my dilema. Plus UC’s cover tution for low income students so Im waiting to hear from them. However, SDSU’s program seems better.

About Me: I’m a really goofy person! I love telling jokes and I’m fluent in sarcasm. I really want to work in the film industry, in any field of it really. I also have a few associates in other majors as backups just in case it takes a little longer than expected to get a job in my desired field. I love video games and playing board games! I have three cats and a dog!

@filmfiend91 I am torn 50/50 on choosing SDSU or CSUN as my backup due to the housing issue. My parents are supporting me throughout college and have told me that whether on-campus or in an apartment did not matter to them if I went to SDSU or UCLA (as long as the apartment price was within reason). We are attending the open house as well to visit the film dept to see if it’s worth me moving three hours away for or if I’m getting a better value at Northridge. I do like SDSU better because of the legitimate college atmosphere, but I’m not just going to throw away their money (especially with the risk that I may end up just coming back home). Hopefully, it doesn’t come to that and I get accepted into my first choice, UCLA; but if not, it’s gonna be tough for me to chose between staying local with my boyfriend, friends, and family or moving and starting over …

@mattmhs I can’t figure out Fullerton’s admissions either! They are not very good at communicating with applicants. :frowning: I’m still waiting on a decision from them. Although in all fairness, they did JUST receive my transcripts a few weeks ago…however, if they would have told me they needed them before a month ago…I probably would have sent them in in 2016 or in January 2017 and received an admissions decision by now. I’m not sure what’s up with them.

Anyone hear anything yesterday or today yet? My application is still pending as of 3:10 P.M as a Pre-Economics Major

Not only is mine still pending, I’d settle for a changed “Application Status Date”. I still have my original October date I submitted so I’m probably going to get thrown out with the rest that don’t even get looked at.

Just got an email stating that ADT applicants will receive notice of acceptance in early April :frowning:

^^^ I didn’t get that email … what does that meannnnn?

from the email:
"Transfer applicants who complete an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) in a major deemed similar to their intended major at SDSU will receive priority admission consideration provided you earn your ADT by spring 2017 and SDSU receives ADT verification directly from the California community college awarding the ADT no later than March 15, 2017.

Contact your California community college if you have any questions about the ADT verification process.

Admission decisions for transfer students who applied to a major for which there is an SDSU-approved Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T/AS-T degree) will be notified of their admission decision by early April. For a list of majors, please visit the SDSU’s Associate Degree for Transfer website."

Haha I just got it! Thanks though … but early April seriously? Ugh

Least we get priority? IDK… @-)

So help! I didn’t apply as an AA-T/AS-T but still got that email… why
