Does anyone know if SDSU does a GPA boost for those with ADT? I saw somewhere that people were getting .1 boost? How does that work?
@transferxxgirlxx you might be right maybe I looked at 2014 but either way we have a bit to wait
I got this email for Aztec day:
Dear Future Aztec,
Thank you for attending the Explore SDSU Open House. We hope that you enjoyed your day at our beautiful campus and you were able to experience what life is like as an SDSU Aztec.
Your thoughts about Explore SDSU can help us plan next year’s event. Please provide your feedback at www.sdsu.edu/explorefeedback. If you complete the evaluation by April 1, you’ll be entered in a drawing to win a $50 gift card to the SDSU Bookstore.
But I didn’t attend Aztec and I’m still pending lol. Did anyone else who is still pending get this too?
Not me …
I went to explore SDSU and it was really fun and the weather was beautiful. I also have an AA-T and I’m still pending but I talked to a lady there and she said that our group always takes longer but she didn’t say when to expect an answer.
@transferxxgirlxx yes I spoke to a counselor at my school during the fall semester who told me you get a .1 boost to your GPA with an ADT. I’m not sure exactly how it’s calculated (i.e. is it automatic?) but I know that you get a boost.
Is an ADT the same as an AA-T or AS-T?
According to what I heard from asking release dates for majors, a woman said they will be releasing science decisions starting april 1st.
Okay so my gpa is a 2.92 so with the boost it’s a 3.02? I stated on my supplementary application that my gpa was a 2.92 so i hope that won’t affect their decision since I didnt include that .1 boost because i didnt know about it :-SS because they say they could deny you if you dont accurately report you gpa
@MrGonzo9733 yea they are the same. And ADT just means Associates Degree with Transfer. It just doesnt actually specify which type of Associates you’re getting.
So I assume everyone who hasn’t heard back yet (myself included) is now in a lottery?
@Zygole Not necessarily. Did you apply for a major that accepts ADTs? I think decisions for those are delayed for everyone because they have to verify the ADTs and give priority to people who applied with them first, and then they’ll get around to admitting/denying people who applied without the degree based on how many spots are left in the major
I’m local, still waiting on a decision for Film and Television Critical Studies which has an equivalent AS-T. They’ve already sent out decisions for the Production emphasis and the AS-T isn’t accepted for that one.
What if you’re a person still waiting that doesn’t have an AD-T? I’m a science major who’s AD-T wouldn’t have worked for my emphasis.
Any input for an out-of-state transfer applicant? Everyone seems to be in-state.
@UniqueGeek @davisgirl is totally right. I got an email back from someone at Admissions and she sent me the most likely reason why I was rejected was because I was not local and did not have classes complete for the major (even though two of them do not transfer). I am a Kinesiology major (Pre-Physical Therapy), and so an AA-T actually does not make a difference under this concentration. This is the important information from my email:
"60 units - student reported complete
30+ GE - student reported complete
Golden Four - student reported complete
Major GPA - student meets minimum requirement and exceeds it with a competitive GPA
Major Prep - the student is missing (SDSU title and course numbers):
Introduction to Exercise and Nutritional Sciences (ENS 200)
Care and Prevention of Athletic and Recreational Injuries (ENS 265)
Principles of Cell and Molecular Biology (BIOL 203)
Principles of Cell and Molecular Biology Laboratory (BIOL 203 L)
Introductory Sociology: The Study of Society (SOC 101)
One the main factors we rank students on, is major prep completion. The more major preps complete, the more more competitive a student is. Typically, due to our impacted status, we only area able to accept students with all of their major preps completed.
Local status - the student is NOT 100% from the local service area (http://arweb.sdsu.edu/es/admissions/local.html). Due to the impacted status at SDSU, we offer students who complete 100% of ALL attempted coursework from our local service area schools priority review for admissions. Since you are not from our service area, you did not receive any priority review. Since we have more students applying than spots available (https://asir.sdsu.edu/applications-by-major/), we often are only able to accommodate students from the local service area."
I am an out of state transfer from Michigan and I still haven’t heard back yet. I am an Economics major, which I haven’t seen a lot of on here (correct me if I’m wrong). I’d like to raise some questions about why I haven’t heard back yet, and what my likely hood of admission is. Is it really a lottery at this point? Do Econ majors typically hear back this late or are they doing this merely to thicken the plot? I’d like to have a discussion on this. Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?
@sdwilliams11 I am also out-of-state, from what I’m hearing, it’s probably a lottery at this point.
@sdwilliams11 what school are you from in Michigan? What’s your major/GPA?
@frusc14nte The lottery option seems too ridiculous to be true. I’d be interested in what everyone else thinks. Is there any documentation of there being a lottery system in place? Who are your sources?
I am a Sophomore at Ferris State University currently in the Econ program with a 3.34 GPA.
@mctooter yeah though my ADT is in physics which isn’t related to Computer Science (which i applied to)
