So I am a psychology major who lives in SoCal, and I’m stuck with the decision between these two schools. The rankings of these schools are a little unclear because UCSC is ranked higher yet has a much higher acceptance rate. I’m unsure of which school has a better psychology program along with a better vibe for me. I’m not into greek life, however sports can be fun to watch, so I’d be down. I don’t want to become unmotivated, which is the rumor with Santa Cruz, however I don’t want to be stuck partying my studies away at SDSU. I love the nature Santa Cruz offers but San Diego seems like a nicer campus with nicer dorms. I have honors at SDSU so that’s also a plus. Please, if you have any helpful information on these two schools that would help me decide, let me know!
This is exactly my same situation… I’m just a communications major. I think the higher acceptance rate at UCSC is because of a greater amount of students applying to SDSU than UCSC. I can’t decide either!! UCSC is so far away but SDSU is also one of the top state schools. ://// I think it might come down to more financial aid or preference of area. But I have heard that overall UCSC as a UC has more research based programs while SDSU is good at immediate connections.
