I'm trying to help a friend who's disappointed about not finding some good schools that she likes. She's looking for a selective school that has 2000+ kids, thats on the east coast but no further south than North Carolina, not in a city but preferably a good college town and doesn't have many preppy kids in it. Also, pretty campus is a must. She likes UPenn (apparently philly is okay) but doesn't think she'll get in so any schools like that would be good as well with less selectivity. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia...the kids are a little preppy but they don't really have the personality associated with preppiness...they're pretty nice. It has somewhere in the mid-5,000ish amount of undergrads. The campus is gorgeous, historical. Williamsburg is a very historical town, its pretty. And contrary to popular belief W&M kids have their fun. But it is a hard school...and pretty hard to get into if you're out of state. tell your friend to look into it. Do you have any idea what they want to study or anything? that might help narrow things down

Ah yeah forgot to add that. History is the major interest right now, maybe computer graphics and Latin/Classics as well. Good history programs would definitely be a big plus. Williams and Mary does sound good, I'll tell her that. Thanks for the suggestion.

William and Mary is an excellent suggestion.

Also try Wake Forest, Middlebury, St. Lawrence, Lafayette, Tufts, Dartmouth, Brown, Swarthmore, Amherst, Dickinson, Muhlenberg

Might try Holy Cross-very good LAC, 1 hour from Boston. Holy Cross offers a well-respected Classics/Latiin major and the HC campus is nice.

I don't know her stats, but maybe Clark and Wheaton (MA) for safeties
