What's a good major while doing pre-med?
I heard Biomedical Engineering is a good idea, and Chemical Engineering is another.
Any ideas/advices/thoughts/tips?

you can do something way different, like History. I might minor in Music along with pre-med.

almost positive u cant major in history in seas....

yes, if you are in SEAS you clearly cant major in history....

BME pre-med isnt for the weak! ...i speak from experience. Pre-meds have to maintain a certain gpa to remain competitive and SEAS really isnt the place to do that....unless you are confident that you can keep up your GPA...in other words u r confidnent in your abilities in the classes offered, then by all means go for it...otherwise the easiest route (biggest copout if you will) is majoring in something in the IEOR department where it is much easier to get a higher GPA.

I wont get into the chem E major as much but as for BME it used to (last year being this year's juniors, my year) be much more pre-med friendly and alot less engineering intensive if you will.....but now that they want to get ABET accredited they have thrown in classes like mechanics and circuits and taken out orgo and orgo lab...which obviously hurts premeds since you will have to take orgo, orgo lab and physics lab...all of which aren't required...ontop of your BME courseload. Also they reduced the number of electives thereby reducing your chance to take easier courses where you are more likely to get an A and help out ur gpa. Bottom line is consider it very carefully and look at the courses...make sure you are looking at "2008 or later" and see whether you will be able to manage in these classes....in my case, i would never have chosen BME with the new less chem, more engineering philosphy since i probably would'v failed mechanics and circuits.
