Should I major in biochemistry at CC? Or should I major in BME at SEAS? I am planning to apply ED.

I’m CC and pre-med, and I honestly wish that I had applied to SEAS so I had a good backup plan in case my med plans fell through. An engineering degree is very valuable in today’s economy. That’s just one reason. SEAS has less of the Core requirements that will take up slots that you might want to use for pre-med classes. The required classes at SEAS are often pre-med classes anyway (Physics, Chemistry, Calculus, CS, etc.)

That said, keep in mind that you don’t need to major in a hard science to go to medical school. Medical schools are increasingly accepting non-science majors.

For the other side of the argument, take a look at this thread:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/columbia-university/1101484-pros-cons-premed-columbia.html
Med schools straight up reject anything below a 3.5, and engineering GPAs are typically a lot lower on average because it’s so hard.
There’s no straight answer, just a lot of hard work no matter what.

thanks, i’ll keep this all in mind when i make my final decision
