SEAS Senior going for Law...

It's an uncommon combination, but I'm definitely interested in this path. I'm a CS major in SEAS here and I'm hoping to goto law school after undergrad (directly or after some working, unclear at this point).

Two questions...
1. My GPA is not the greatest thanks to getting hammered by engineering courses. Am I at a huge disadvantage? I know I'm going to have to near ace the LSATs to have a chance at a top 20ish law school.

Thanks!

What’s your GPA?

3.1

10characters

As you indicated, you will need a great LSAT score (~175) to be competitive for a top 20 law school, and a near-perfect score to have a good chance at a T14 (178+). I don’t know about Penn in particular, but most law schools give a minor preference to those applying from their undergraduate colleges.

i would say that you will get cut some slack for coming from an engineering background, if you can kill the lsat (~178) you should be a shoo-in for T5. Getting a 170+ should make you competitive at the T20.

Point in your favor:
Law schools like employability… law firms like engineers for their IP-patent departments.
