Yes. I’m pretty set on either SU or UW, but both UP and USF (most because I live in the Bay) caught my interest too. I’d like to know you guys would consider going to either of those school or why you applied in the first place
@mntEden wow, I didn’t realize we were applying to such similar schools! UP, SU and USF are all so similar yet so different that it’s almost hard to explain why I like them all. They all have great programs for what I want to do and I really value the Jesuit educational goals. I also like that they’re all relatively small schools because I feel like I’ll get more out of my education compared to if I went to a huge public school. I like SU because I’ve always wanted to go to school in Seattle and my sister lives really close to SU. They also have awesome study abroad options for my major (nursing). I haven’t visited UP but from what I’ve seen on the internet and heard from friends that go there, the sense of community is strong and the campus is gorgeous. I also like that it’s in a city but not RIGHT in the city. Downtown is close enough so if you wanna go out for a night, you can, but you’re not in the center of the hustle and bustle. Basically, its more of a traditional college feel compared to SU and USF. I’m also from the Bay and originally I didn’t even want to consider USF because I thought it was too close to home, but my mom made me visit. I was impressed with how kind/generous the faculty was with their time. I was given a tour of the nursing school/labs and stuff and I think it was only supposed to last about an hour and a half, but they spent almost three hours with me! I think that really goes to show how much they care about their students. Also, I’m obsessed with San Francisco, so to be able to go to school there and be so close to everything (golden gate park, haight ashbury…ect) would be so cool. Sorry this post turned out to be so long lol
@swimchick97 I haven’ visited SU or UP yet, but I’m hoping to go to Seattle in March to check out SU. I also like the more tradition look and vibe of UP, but I also like the centrality of SU in a city like Seattle. I can’t attest to much because I haven’t visited, but I’m hoping SU doesn’t feel like USF. I didn’t like how busy USF felt when I visited. It was way too congested for me. I’ve heard nothing but good things about all 3 schools though. I feel like SU is the perfect combination of academics and social life for me. It’s close to a bunch of hospitals (albeit so is USF) so I can probably get pre-med internships without too much difficulty. And then there’s UW which doesn’t really have the same feel, yet it has outstanding academics. I’m definitely stuck between the two, but I feel like I’d be happier at SU where I’ll get to form intimate relationships with my classmate, teachers, staff, etc. I’m not sure though. The catch for me will probably be financial aid. I feel like since UW is a public school, they won’t offer my very much and I can’t pay more than about 5k a year and I don’t want to be buried in debt…it’s all a mess for me
@mntEden yeah, one great thing about SU is that theres tons of hospitals right around there. If it were my decision, I would chose SU just because of the small school atmosphere and the fact that you’re not just a number there. It seems like you like SU a lot! I also agree with you about the financial aid side of things. I didn’t apply to UW so I have no clue how much aid they give, but I wouldn’t think they give as much as SU does. Best of luck in your decision!!
Packet arrived Friday! No kidding, it took 2+ weeks to get to So Cal, way to go USPS…
Thanks @swimchick97 - we’re heading back up to SU this weekend for Sullivan Leaders’ Day. We visited in July, so we’re looking forward to seeing the school with both students and real weather.
Let us know how it goes, @arc918!
Did anyone else apply for PhysFest? I hope I get chosen to participate, it’ll probably be my only chance to visit SU before May 1st
Has anyone accepted to SU been offered an invite to honors? If so, was it part of your acceptance package or did it come separately?
@2828collegebound odd that you say that… I actually just received an email that invited me to the honors college!
@2828collegebound @swimchick97 I received an invite today as well! It was through email
Do you know anyone in it? Anything about it? Some schools it’s just a way to charge more, make you do more, but some schools it’s seems VERY valuable. I’d love any information from anyone who knows anything. I got an invitation too.
It seems like a pretty cool program, but from my understanding it’s only 2 years? And it seems like it’s just about curriculum? Not sure though.
