SEC Internship: Hurts or Helps?

I'm a senior in high school, but since I attend an early entrance college program - college internships are available. However the program takes place in a non flagship public school, so chances of legitimate internships are nill. However, we have the opportunity to apply to other programs - like government internships, NIH, REUs, etc. I was considering applying for the SEC's (Securities and Exchange Commission) Summer College Honors Program for experience.

However, as a regulatory agency, would it have the opposite effect and actually deter prospective employers from looking at me for internships later on? I'll be attending Wharton next fall - so I'm curious. It seems like a great experience, but I'm afraid it'll hurt.

Insights, thoughts, opinions? All is welcome.

Thanks.

Listen, coming from Wharton you will be in great shape as long as you keep your grades up, eyes open, and network as you progress through u grad. As a high school senior, you can definitely kick back and relax if you’d like before starting college. If, however, you’d like to land an internship and get something on your resume ahead of everyone else, that position would be fine - it’s not going to hurt you at all, and it will help you at least until you get stronger experience.

Thanks again Bank.
