Second ACT Score Lower Than the First... Suggestions?

I tested with the ACT twice throughout my junior year: once in February, once in June (the first day of summer, after all of my final exams- can you say braindead?). In February, I scored with a 29, and in June, I scored with a 26. Am I supposed to send both of my scores to all of my schools, or can I just send the 29? (None of my schools specify on their website and I can't remember from when I toured.) If I didn't send my 26 to any of the schools and they do in fact want all of the scores, what would happen? Should I consider cancelling my 26? Would colleges know if I cancel the score? Thanks so much!

Please please please help!! I don’t have any older siblings/cousins so any help given would be greatly appreciated!!

Most schools only have you send one score, and when your sending your ACT score you send them separately by test date, so it really doesn’t matter. Just send your 29 unless the school specifically indicates that they would like you to send all scores, which most do not. Also just so you know you can’t cancel your 26 if you already have the score, it is just there now and will only be sent to the colleges you indicated before the test if any.

Unless they want all score, you just send whichever one you want. Nevertheless, you should have done some practice tests to see if you have any improvement before the retake.

@billcsho‌ I did take a test, and my predicted score would be a 31. Besides, I had already paid for the test multiple months in advance.

If you are expecting 31 while getting 26, there must be something wrong. You must be totally exhausted after all the other exams.

@billcsho‌ Well that’s why I said that… That’s why I was asking the question in the first place

Are you going to retake in Fall? i think you should if you are expecting 31 in the last practice. You may even get a better score after more preparation over the summer.

A bit late because I haven’t signed on in a while - sorry! I didn’t end up retaking, because I spoke with representatives from all of the schools I applied to and said that submitting just the first score would be totally fine, especially considering the circumstances of all of my finals being the four days prior. Beyond that, literally all of them also pointed out that my original score was either within or above their score ranges of the previous incoming class (including William and Mary, surprisingly) and that they take only the highest scores given into consideration anyways. Better yet, my two top choices emphasized this the most!! Thanks so much for feedback, I really appreciate it a lot!

Glad it worked out for you, good luck!
