I was wondering whether anyone had ever heard of someone getting a second bachelor degree from West Point. I am a sophomore at a top 25 university who has excelled as a leader but really feels like a military education would be best.

do rotc there.

I had classmates getting their second degree my year…and there was a rumor of someone with their Masters…but I cannot verify at.

You start over at West Point. A good number of cadets attend a college for a year and then go, but I don’t know how common it would be do finish a degree and then go start over again. It is too late for next fall, so you would have at least three years completed.

As dychang suggested, you could start ROTC in the fall.

I am not sure it really matters who else has done this with regard to your original question. As mentioned above, ALL cadets start together, you can’t transfer into any of the military academies at anything but the first year, regardless of how much time you have spent in another college. One obvious question you will need to answer during your application process is why you aren’t currently enrolled in ROTC at the civilian college you now attend.

If you primarily want to attend WP for the value/prestige it will add to your resume rather then wanting to be serving your country in the military, you really need to seriously think about your goals/objectives. You will also need to explain why you didn’t originally apply to WP when you were a senior in high school.

Starting over is a waste of time. Having an earlier date of commission benefits you more than having a WP pedigree. It will take so many below-the-zone promotions to be where someone who promotes in-the-zone. The only thing you’d change is when you can retire.
