Second Decile?

I plan on applying to brown next year, but i’m in the second decile, which puts me at a big disadvantage to applicants who are ranked higher in their high schools. Of course it would be a reach school for me (as it is a reach school for anyone applying). I just want to know if any of you who have a similar class ranking as me were accepted, or if anyone knows someone who was not in the top decile of his high school who was accepted.

have people who were in the 2nd decile at your school gotten into schools like brown? For example my old high school routinely sends 1/3 of the class to ivies alone, let alone the other top 15 schools so obviously they take kids from the 2nd decile from some schools.

In the past 5 years only two students (out of about 20 applicants) have been accepted to the Brown, but their gpa’s were on the lower side (they were prob in the 3rd decile) and their avg sat score was an 1840, but people with near perfect sat scores and high class rankings have been denied. Students in my high school who are in the second even third decile often get accepted to top schools. Though the only ivy schools that have accepted students below the first decile from my high school are columbia, cornell, and brown.
