Figured this would be a good place to start.
I’m a Mechanical Engineering major, almost done really, however my GPA is less than stellar. If I were to get a 4.0 for the next 3 (30+ credits, year long course etc) semesters until graduation my cumulative would still be around a ~3.0.
I guess there are a few options, such as retaking prior classes and replacing grades which would have more of an impact on GPA but I feel this is a long and strenuous road to go down and may not be worth it in the end.
Just doing the best I can until graduation, end up with a 2.8-2.9 and try to have great interviews and letters of recommendation.
Ideally I’ll just enter the work force, which should be a problem due to the networking I’ve done in the last few years but I don’t want to rule out further education. Clearly I’ll never get into a top law school, and I’m guessing the amount of undergrad coursework to get my grades up to par is simply not worth it.
That also leaves grad school, again probably won’t get accepted into a good MBA/MFin program.
The major issue is my lack of interest in engineering and thus my poor performance, along with the cliche of “finding oneself” in college. My grades in HS were great, SAT was good but my undergrad does not reflect this what so ever. I’m guessing I wouldn’t even get accepted to a decent college for a second degree to pursue Finance/Accounting.
Any thoughts, experiences, etc?
Thanks in advance!
