i got into harvard EA for a double major in econ/biomed engineering.

for 4 years it was all i wanted and i worked my butt off to get in. anyways now that the major excitement of my admission has sort of died down, im wondering if its really the place i want to go. its not binding luckily… but its just confused me.

am i the only one or is there anyone else that feels the same way?

But, I have a good friend who went to H...the thing is, he said it's alright--its what he expected. It's not like you would apply or go to Harvard for the "normal" reasons people pick colleges (i.e. reasons other than academics) because, according to him, it really is ALL ABOUT academics& the competition can be pretty fierce. That's not to say that he doesn't like it, because the truth is that if you're the kind of person that would apply to Harvard and choose it, you're probably the kind of person who would thrive there. OK I don't think this makes sense but just thought I'd share! :)

Hmmmmm. Its cool that you got in already. Is Penn flexible enough to have both econ and bioengineering? I guess you could apply to M&T if otherwise it isn't possible. What kind of person are you? Outgoing, social, do you like working with other people or do you like to do things yourself moreso? I visited both, and I definetely liked the atmosphere at Penn better. That's just me ofcourse.

yeah. idk im def. more social which is what really intrigues me about econ/business. but i am good at math/science (im indian afterall) so theres that aspect too. i guess name-wise harvard is more renowned, but i saw penn a bit this summer and loved it for a variety of reasons

god i never thought these decisions would be so tough.

People DO pick Penn over Harvard, you know. My hallmate did.

As someone wise once put it, "Harvard is just a name...but WHAT a name!!!"

Names matter. If all you care about is the ability to make friends, hot girls, and employers go "oooooh," then I can tell you from experience, Harvard wins hand down (You go to Penn State? I hear they have a good football team) But Penn isn't such a bad name...ESPECIALLY the Wharton name. Many Wharton kids say they go to Wharton instead of Penn...much to the chagrin of us students in the College part of Penn.

You should be sure and look at the school. I too felt buyers' remorse over Penn, but everytime I look at other schools, I realize there's no place like Penn.

Oh and if you're lazy, Penn wins hands down. Smaller campus = shorter walks to class.
